Avenger Aerospace Solutions is seeking an Aircraft Structures Design / Liaison Engineer to join our team. This dynamic opportunity includes providing on-site, hands‑on liaison support to an aircraft maintenance facility one hour north of the Atlanta, GA Metro area. On‑site work at the facility will be 3 days per week (24 hours), with the remaining 2 days (16 hours) being performed remotely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide on‑site engineering liaison support and perform remote work in the Atlanta area, working in close coordination with Avenger’s main office in Greenville, SC to develop engineering solutions for aircraft repairs and alterations.
- Generate Engineering Orders (EOs) and technical drawings (using Solidworks) in support of repairs and alterations to aircraft.
- Perform stress, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses and generate engineering reports as required/requested to support project goals.
- Coordinate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to ensure designs meet the applicable airworthiness requirements.
- Must be able to work independently and apply technical capabilities to provide analytical solutions, along with design input, to meet applicable load and/or performance requirements.
- Must be familiar with standard aerospace materials, fabrication and finishing practices and be able to apply these materials and practices when generating engineering data in a clear, concise manner to communicate intent to fabrication/production.
- Must be familiar with standard engineering drafting and tolerancing practices.
- Must ensure that specifications, design criteria and performance schedules are maintained.
- Must have ability to supply completion dates / hours estimates for assigned work upon request of leadership / management personnel.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years progressive aircraft design/liaison engineering experience.
- General knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23 and 25 regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well with team members, including on‑site mechanics and supervisors.
- Ability to receive feedback on design / analysis from team members in a positive manner.
- Ability to travel occasionally for short periods (typically one week or less) in conjunction with expected assignments.
- Proficiency in standard aerospace design software (such as CATIA or Solid Works).
- Proficiency in interpretation of technical drawings and solid model properties.
- Familiarity with creating technical drawings.
- Ability to create and interrogate Finite Element Models (FEMs) for various aircraft structures.
- Ability to perform Static Analysis.
- Ability to perform Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis.
Job Type: Full‑time, Contract Position (1099)
Engineering Rate: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour (to be determined based on experience level)
