Summary
The position requires a dynamic individual with an environmental science, water quality, geology, biology, chemistry, or civil engineering background and the ability to work flexible hours (primarily Monday through Friday). It involves field assignments conducting Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and Best Management Practices (BMPs) design and installations for major utility companies in Northern California. Knowledge of SWPPP type work, possession of a Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) license, and familiarity with environmental laws and regulations are preferred.
The candidate must work independently, professionally, with limited guidance, and be willing to travel by vehicle routinely.
Project sites are in various regions of California. The ideal candidate will live within commutable distance of the project sites.
Salary RangeLevel I: $59,875–$72,150 per year
Level II: $69,264–$84,156 per year
Level III: $80,130–$98,159 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – All Levels- Conduct SWPPP field inspections, perform storm water sampling, and prepare technical research and documentation.
- Assist in preparing technical plans and reports.
- Conduct regulatory compliance reviews and interpret environmental codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other project parties to develop site‑specific plans and recommendations.
- Collect and interpret environmental sampling data, providing field consultations as required.
- Read specifications such as GIS and CAD figures to determine construction requirements and planning procedures.
- Adhere to schedule and financial objectives as specified by project management.
- Enhance company reputation by accepting ownership for the team’s performance and adding value to assigned tasks.
- Assist with proposal and contract preparation.
- Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure specifications are met.
- Coordinate with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors to resolve problems.
- Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports; communicate with the Project Manager.
- Analyze worker and production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans.
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager with the proposal and contract process.
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager with estimating and invoicing.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
- Project assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on assigned tasks.
- Execute assigned tasks in accordance with work plans and direction from higher‑level staff.
- Acquire and/or develop a technical area of expertise.
- Engage program and project managers for task assignments.
- 50%–75% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations.
- Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects.
- Maintain 1–2 areas of technical expertise.
- Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and at field locations.
- Perform technical project execution and document preparation, peer‑review project documents.
- Assist with task order and project proposals.
- Provide technical mentoring.
- 40%–60% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations.
