Job Description

AECOM is seeking a civil engineer to work in the Environmental Business line with an engineering design group, working on projects involving site/civil design, solid waste management, environmental infrastructure, stormwater management, construction, and engineering services, for a variety of clients both in the private and public sectors across the U.S.

The selected candidate for the role will assist in executing large and complex engineering projects and proving a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and environmental compliance services. The candidate will learn technical skills on projects and will develop strong relationships with design teams and clients.

The selected candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team. The individual will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery;

and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.

The job responsibilities for the position will include, but are not limited to:

Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of a professional engineer for remediation and civil design projects managed by a Sr. Engineer.

Contributes to the production of design drawings and technical specifications; including completing design tasks using AutoCAD Civil3D, and evaluating raw survey data.

Assist project manager/project engineer in preparation of planning documents, permitting documents, report writing, and development of cost estimates.

Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations.

Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

Evaluates and identifies discrepancies in environmental data results and assists in technical quality reviews.

Contributes to projects across various stages—from concept design to construction and operation.

Supports design, project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical/site safety activities.

Assists in developing innovative, sustainable solutions to meet diverse project challenges.

Collaborates within multidisciplinary teams to deliver and maintain infrastructure and site development projects, including the design of civil engineering infrastructure; haul roads, landfills, stormwater, utility disposition, earthwork, etc.

Evaluate or review of regulatory compliance requirements across federal, state, and local agencies.

Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university AND 2+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Successful candidate will have to pass a background check.

Preferred Requirements

Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.

Ability to work in the office 2 days a week; typical days in office are on Monday and Wednesday, normal business hours, other days are worked from home/remotely.

Passed or planning to take the EIT in the State of Ohio and/or other states within 6 months of being hired.
