Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Plumbing Engineer
, you will perform design engineering and provide system design support by working closely with all MEP disciplines to assure well-coordinated designs. This dynamic role will also involve consulting and interfacing with clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Conduct field surveys, system assessments, and system commissioning
- Attend coordination meetings and job sites
- Perform calculations under Senior Engineer/Designer
- Produce clear and concise drawings consistent with client requirements and firm organization format and drawing standards
- Apply Codes and Standards to all designs (including working drawings and specifications)
- Conduct peer reviews and provide QA/QC oversight
- Perform code interpretation
- Assist in business development by expanding on current client relationships, cross selling Syska services and attending industry and client events
This is a great opportunity for a Senior Plumbing Engineer with a large variety of facility types including Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Governmental buildings experience, as well as experience in critical facilities and storage facilities design. In addition to your engineering experience, to succeed in this role, you will need a solid knowledge of fire protection systems design for various projects with the ability to communicate design concepts via drawings and specifications.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; exceptional candidates may substitute with significant years of experience
- Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in the Plumbing Design field
- Experience with the latest version of REVIT is a must
- A working knowledge of the various applications of fire suppression systems gained through both formal training (NFPA 99) and project experience
- Solid knowledge of Mechanical / Plumbing trades, building codes, and drawings/documents
- Detailed knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers and the ability to make proper selections independently.
- Ability to independently perform fire suppression hydraulic calculations to support design and estimate construction costs and evaluate the feasibility of construction
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) Certification, highly preferred

Salary RangeNew York Pay Range: $116,615 — $169,922 USD (actual pay range for candidates will be commensurate with candidate’s experience, skillsets and competencies and may differ based on the cost of labor in their particular location.)
