This role supports electrical engineering needs across correctional facilities by providing design work, technical guidance, and project oversight. The work helps ensure safe, efficient, and reliable electrical systems. As a Electrical Engineer 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Design Support: Prepare project designs, specifications, and drawings that follow codes and engineering standards
- Construction Review: Evaluate construction plans, contractor submittals, and proposed changes to ensure quality and compliance
- Site Evaluation: Conduct inspections and surveys to identify issues, verify conditions, and provide recommended solutions
- Technical Guidance: Offer engineering advice to staff and assist with troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment
- Coordination Work: Work with other disciplines, facility staff, and design professionals to support successful project outcomes
- Problem Analysis: Investigate electrical failures or unusual conditions and recommend effective corrective actions
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home part-time, up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period. To telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Electrical Engineer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Two years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system; and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Two years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
- You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
- You must be in possession of a valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the residency guidelines
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
