Cable Routing Engineer
Job Type: Non fixed term.
OverviewEDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is recruiting a Cable Routing Engineer to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) projects. The role focuses on designing, developing, and reviewing the cable routing network in accordance with UK cabling rules and nuclear regulation.
Responsibilities- Provide routing reports ensuring integrity of data and compliance with UK routing rules (lifetime margins, safety function integrity, electrical segregations).
- Interface with the layout team to assess tray filling rates, address queries preventing routing production, and ensure 3D model quality, civil works electrical opening management, and cable tray design.
- Assess feasibility studies for design changes or open points that impact routing; perform risk assessments and set mitigations for critical modifications.
- Provide user feedback on routing software performance, weaknesses, troubleshooting, and participate in beta testing.
- Communicate updates and study progress during the weekly routing follow‑up meetings, layout meetings, and management board sessions.
- Provide training and introduction to the cable routing software, discipline, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in experience sharing activities and OPEX integration from other projects.
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of electrical design experience.
- Knowledge of EPR design principles.
- Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Proactive communication with remote offices (e.g., France, Germany).
- Coaching and supporting teammates.
- Prioritisation and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of EPR system design principles and nuclear safety classification.
- Experience with EDF internal cabling design tools.
- Familiarity with UK licensing requirements for HPC project.
- Knowledge of RCC-E.
- Experience with CAD tools such as PDMS/E3D, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
- French language skills (bonus).
