Role DescriptionThe Senior Engineer role is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Greater Chicago Area, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role is responsible for leading engineering design and technical review across industrial development projects, including site civil, structural, and building systems. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with internal development, construction, and asset management teams; coordinating with external consultants and contractors;
and ensuring designs meet code requirements, safety standards, and client specifications. The Senior Engineer will prepare and review plans, calculations, and technical documentation; support value‑engineering efforts; and assist in resolving field issues during construction. The role also involves contributing to project scheduling and budgeting, mentoring junior team members, and identifying opportunities to improve design standards and processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in industrial facility engineering, including site planning, building systems, and structural or civil design.
- Strong skills in technical analysis, drawing review, and preparation of engineering calculations and specifications.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, civil/structural analysis tools) and a solid understanding of applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or related field); advanced degree or professional certifications (PE license) are highly beneficial.
- Experience in industrial real estate development, design‑build environments, or commercial construction projects is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability in design and construction.
- Capacity to mentor junior engineers and support a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
