Overview
Our Federal Services Group is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the team. ENERCON Federal Services provides engineering design support across multiple DOE fronts, including cutting‑edge nuclear waste clean‑up projects, next‑generation nuclear power generation research, and projects supporting America’s nuclear deterrent. Our work covers both nuclear and non‑nuclear facilities as well as facility‑related infrastructure. This role is located in Aiken, SC and requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 15 years of related experience.
Responsibilities- Lead cross‑disciplinary collaboration, guiding projects from design to successful field execution.
- Oversee technical coordination of multi‑discipline engineering projects and interface with various engineering disciplines.
- Prepare design studies, scopes, and engineering estimates.
- Develop equipment procurement specifications, evaluate bids, and select equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations and solve complex technical problems.
- Travel for client interfacing, walkdowns, field installation support, and start‑up activities.
- Lead teams with a positive attitude to achieve project goals aligned with ENERCON’s excellence standards.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years of design engineering experience, including:
- Preparing engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, and engineering reports.
- Applying engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
- Producing procurement specifications and construction specifications.
- Attending project meetings and performing field walkdowns.
- Mentoring junior engineers.
- Construction Administration Oversight experience strongly desired, including:
- Ensuring the contractor builds according to technical specifications and drawings.
- Managing project records such as site visits, reports, and manuals.
- Acting as the liaison between the project owner, engineers, and contractors.
- Identifying potential issues early and managing contract risks.
- Finalizing, reviewing, and approving project documentation.
- Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in teams.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Professional Engineering License preferred.
- Familiarity with DOE design engineering projects is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Possible remote work is available in one or more U.S. states. Compensation is aligned with applicable pay transparency requirements and reflects expected compensation at the time of posting.
