Job OverviewWe are seeking a Value Optimization Engineer – Interiors with 3 years of experience to support cost reduction and value improvement initiatives for interior components. This role focuses on identifying cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining performance, quality, and design intent across automotive interior systems.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze interior components (trim, cockpit, seating, consoles, plastics, soft trims) to identify cost optimization opportunities
- Perform value engineering / value analysis (VA/VE) activities across design and manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Suppliers) to implement cost-effective solutions
- Conduct cost breakdowns, benchmarking, and should-cost analysis
- Propose alternative materials, processes, and design changes to reduce overall product cost
- Support RFQ processes and supplier negotiations with technical cost insights
- Track and report cost savings, KPIs, and project status
Ensure compliance with quality, performance, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive or related)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in cost engineering, value optimization, or product engineering (interiors preferred)
- Strong knowledge of interior components and manufacturing processes (injection molding, textiles, foam, assembly, etc.)
- Experience with cost analysis tools, should-costing, and benchmarking
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings (CATIA, NX, or similar)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience working with cross-functional and global teams
- Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience
- Knowledge of design-to-cost methodologies
- Familiarity with ERP or cost management tools
- Experience in supplier sourcing or negotiations
