Job Title:
Designer
The role supports the planning, execution, and implementation of medium- to high-complexity projects. This position requires the application of strong technical knowledge and practical expertise, along with the ability to share that expertise within the functional area and across cross‑functional teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities and effective written and verbal communication of technical subject matter. This role also calls for the ability to lead through influence, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and build strong working relationships to deliver sound engineering and design solutions.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of CAD workflows, intelligent drawing systems, and 3D design applications.
- Develop new industrial designs and construction‑ready drawing packages.
- Support lead designers and promote effective use of design tools and systems.
- Apply technical knowledge and creative thinking to solve design challenges.
- Oversee project documentation, document transfer, and archival processes.
- Coordinate and guide external design resources and equipment suppliers.
- Possess advanced understanding of CAD standards and National CAD Standards (NCS).
- Provide leadership support for external or less experienced designers when serving as lead designer.
- Advance design requirements, capabilities, and standards.
- Deliver technical CAD and design support, coaching, and training.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 10 years with an associate degree, in mechanical or BIM design, preferably within the consumer goods industry.
- Experience in a CAD management or design leadership role is strongly preferred.
- Advanced experience in 3D design and expert‑level proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk products.
- Advanced knowledge of National CAD Standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Piping experience in an industrial setting, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
- Mechanical engineering background.
This position allows for a remote work environment, with approximately 70–85% of responsibilities performed remotely. Occasional travel, including international travel, may be required depending on project assignments (approximately 10–20%). Travel to facilities is required as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a contract position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 – $48.00 per hour.
