Engineering Manager

Element Six is a global leader in the design, development and production of synthetic diamond and tungsten carbide supermaterials. Part of the De Beers Group, we employ over 1,700 people. Our primary manufacturing sites are located in the USA, UK, Ireland, Germany and South Africa.

The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for the operation of a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory grown diamond manufacturing footprint in Gresham, Oregon. The role will lead a team of Process Engineers responsible to ensure the development and improvement of production processes across the site as well as managing the qualification and implementation of new processes. The Process Engineering Manager will drive yield improvements by utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence techniques to optimize processes and standardize work.

Further, this role will lead a team of Process Engineers and work closely with Equipment Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.

• Create a Zero Harm mentality towards Health and Safety within the Process Engineering team.
• Manage a team of Process Engineers tasked with the development and implementation of production processes in line with best Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence techniques, and execute against these strategies and drive continuous improvement at all levels within the team.
• Coach, mentor, and manage the performance of the Process Engineering team.
• Manage the qualification and implementation of new production processes.
• Oversee the site safety program including training, reporting, and correction of safety issues.
• Be a key member of the site leadership team and ensure that the Process Engineering team's KPI's are delivered upon in order to achieve the overall Site Targets & Objectives.
• Participate as a member of the OEE Team to report issues, solve problems, and drive improvements.
• Utilize Production and Quality data to drive decision making.
• Lead projects and deliver fundamental long‑term process improvements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field, plus 5 years of work experience in the job offered or closely related occupation.

• Chemical Vapor Deposition Process Knowledge
• Experience with manufacturing techniques used in processing superhard materials
• Experience working cross‑functionally in a local and international manufacturing environment
• Data science/data analysis techniques utilizing production and quality data to drive decision making
• Experience leading site critical projects to drive new product introductions or capital projects

May work from home up to 1 time a week.
