Position Overview
At Jacobs, we challenge what is currently accepted and shape innovative solutions for tomorrow. We are looking for a driven, well‑organized, client‑focused Senior Structural Engineering Professional to grow with our team in locations including Cincinnati, OH;
Cary, NC;
Indianapolis, IN;
Conshohocken, PA;
Richmond, VA; or Houston, TX.
- Collaborate closely with architects and structural engineers.
- Lead structural engineering teams from Concept Design through Construction.
- Provide structural engineering input to our Jacobs Architecture Subject Matter Experts on feasibility studies, concept designs, and masterplans.
- Manage structural engineering concepts through construction documentation and coordinate with architecture and other in‑house disciplines.
- Assist with permitting efforts and construction activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing field observation reports, and punch listing.
- Work directly with clients and maintain compliance with building codes and best practices.
- Act as Engineer of Record for projects, ensuring record‑keeping and sign‑offs.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering school.
- Minimum of 8 years of applicable professional experience.
- Professional Engineering license in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Experience organizing and leading a structural team through project execution phases including Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, and Construction Support.
- Knowledge and experience in construction documentation, construction administration, materials and methods of construction, and model building codes.
- Advanced understanding of structural engineering design (wind, seismic, thermal, vibration) and its interrelationship with other disciplines.
- Experience performing construction administration activities such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing field observation reports, and punch listing.
- Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with team members.
- United States Citizen.
- Focus on Life Sciences projects such as Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, and Light Chemical (preferred).
- Master’s degree from an accredited engineering school.
- Involvement in professional and/or community associations.
- Ability to contribute to developing new ideas, techniques, and standards.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities; coordinate work with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants, independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to perform quality checking or accept and implement quality checking by others.
- Experience supervising other design professionals.
- Strong interpersonal skills – speaking, writing, listening, including client presentation skills.
- Proficiency in 3‑D engineering design/modeling and software (Revit, STAAD, RISA, RAM).
- Proficiency with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam Revu.
