The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Environmental Engineering (CECMEE), within the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering, comprises twenty-one full-time faculty. We provide students with a well-rounded, personalized education in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and construction management, with an emphasis on producing baccalaureate students who are fully prepared for professional practice upon graduation. The Department offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, project management, and construction management.

Our mission is to create the next generation of ethical, work‑ready, high‑performance construction, civil, and environmental engineering professionals.

Part‑time faculty position in the Construction Management program. We seek candidates with teaching passion and relevant education and industry experience. Primary duties will involve in‑person, remote, or hybrid classroom teaching of undergraduate courses in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or related fields.

• Teach undergraduate courses, deliver exams, supervise students, and grade student work.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Positions may arise on short notice and will remain open for one academic year (August–May). Applicants not selected within the current year may re‑apply in subsequent semesters.

• M.S. in construction management, architecture business administration, or civil engineering.
• B.S. in construction management, architecture, or civil engineering with 5+ years of engineering or construction management experience.
• Combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent.

• Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Ph.D. or EdD.
• Registered Professional Engineering (P.E.) or other professional certifications.

• Advanced knowledge in construction management or related areas.
• Effective teaching ability at undergraduate levels.
• Curriculum development.
• Capacity to inspire students.
• Ability to manage undergraduate students.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Effective communication of highly technical content to a diverse audience.

Anticipated compensation is $2,000 per credit unit or $6,000 per three‑credit course, commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and related experience.

Requires satisfactory criminal background investigation, employment history verification, and degree verification (in some cases). A fingerprint background check may be required. NAU participates in the federal E‑Verify program.
