Project OverviewThe rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
The candidate will act as the Electrical Superintendent on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston-VA; as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field. This position is contingent upon project award.
The Construction Electrical Superintendent leads and executes all electrical construction activities, including raceway installation, cable installation, equipment installation, terminations, and temporary power systems. This role manages Bechtel craft and subcontractors to deliver safe, high quality work in alignment with engineering designs, project schedules, and cost objectives, while coordinating closely with engineering, procurement, and external stakeholders and enforcing Zero Accident and quality standards.
MajorResponsibilities
Planning:
- Manages the organization and direction of construction for all above ground and below ground raceway installation.
- Create cable pulling plans and oversee cable pulling activities, manage cable yard and cable cutting programs.
- Manages the organization and direction of construction for electrical equipment installation and cable termination activities.
- Oversee the temporary power installation program & aid in the creation of temp power plans and single line documents.
- Manages all electrical activities including actions of Bechtel craft, subcontractors, and chemical cleaning activities.
- Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
- Monitors and directs subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractors' management staff within the area of responsibility.
Safety/Quality:
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Takes part in oversight of the construction electrical LOTO program
Technical:
- Support Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Electrical design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Provides guidance and coordinates with engineering and procurement for the design and sizing of equipment for the project temporary power program
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9
-12 years of relevant work experience. - Experience with combined cycle facilities is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of above and below ground raceway installation, electrical equipment setting, cable pull and termination program management, and temporary power installation and energization.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, with a working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Possesses strong communication and problem solving skills, with a proven ability to lead and manage teams.
