What Your Job Will Be Like- Document and implement test planning, test execution, and requirements verification.
- Conduct environmental testing in support of design qualification.
- Troubleshoot and document test anomalies.
- Contribute to integration activities with other systems engineers and product realization teams.
- Prepare for technical reviews.
- Represent Sandia on multi‑organizational project teams.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% and the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time at the Albuquerque, NM facility.
Salary Range$117,500 – $235,700 (salary range is estimated; actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential).
Qualifications We Require- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- Active DOE Q‑level security clearance, or equivalent DoD clearance.
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers.
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.
- Experience designing and executing system‑level tests, especially in electromagnetic radiation or pulsed power environments.
- Experience in nuclear deterrence and/or weapons modernization programs.
- Experience writing technical requirements.
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high‑energy, collaborative, team‑focused environment.
- Ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
Department 08261, System Environmental Qualification Testing, is responsible for developing and executing system‑level environmental tests in normal and abnormal environments in support of weapon modernization program qualification.
Security ClearancePosition requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Applicants must maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. A second citizenship may affect clearance eligibility. Applicants offered employment are subject to federal background investigation, including checks of references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can result in denial or termination of the clearance and the position.

NNSA Requirements For MedPEDsIf you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug‑releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, and you are employed by Sandia National Laboratories, you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
Additional steps may be necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to an on‑site interview if you have a MedPED.
