Job Description
This role leads and coordinates multi-discipline project teams in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) industry, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard. The Project Manager oversees the full project lifecycle, from internal kickoff and design coordination through construction administration, while serving as a primary point of contact for clients and project partners.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate the work of multi-discipline teams comprised of engineers, designers, and interns throughout all phases of a project.
- Maintain a detailed and up-to-date understanding of the status of all ongoing projects under your management.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, monitoring project costs, deadlines, and change orders to ensure successful delivery.
- Conduct internal kickoff meetings for each project with assigned personnel to negotiate and agree on schedule, budget, and expectations.
- Monitor, manage, and distribute both internal and external project communications to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and on-time delivery of all project deliverables.
- Actively drive cross-discipline coordination at each stage of the project to ensure integrated and consistent designs.
- Assign and oversee project personnel for specific phases or aspects of a project, including technical research, project design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
- Organize and lead design team meetings, ensuring deadlines are met and proactively removing obstacles that could impact progress.
- Manage engineering reviews and QA/QC analyses for each phase of the project, compiling and publishing the results of each review.
- Interface regularly with clients, sub-consultants, external firms, and contractors to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are understood and met.
- Coordinate and schedule site visits with the project team to support design, review, and construction activities.
- Manage construction administration activities, including reviewing and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Project management experience in the MEP industry, with at least 2+ years of Project Management experience.
- Experience in engineering, with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial projects such as hotels, medical offices, banks, schools, and entertainment facilities.
- Proven ability to develop and manage project schedules and budgets, including monitoring costs, deadlines, and change orders.
- Strong coordination skills to lead multi-discipline teams and facilitate cross-discipline collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Experience conducting and managing engineering reviews and QA/QC processes for multiple project phases.
- Ability to manage construction administration activities, including RFI and submittal review.
- Effective communication skills to interface with clients, sub-consultants, external firms, contractors, and internal team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple projects and maintain detailed project status information.
Skills & Qualifications
- PMP certification is a plus but not required.
- Professional engineering license is a plus but not required.
- Experience leading internal kickoff meetings and design team meetings.
- Familiarity with commercial building types such as hotels, medical offices, banks, schools, and entertainment venues.
- Ability to compile, document, and publish results of engineering reviews and QA/QC analyses.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and remove obstacles impacting project progress.
The work environment supports a hybrid schedule, typically allowing 2 to 3 days of remote work per week, with the remaining time spent collaborating on-site with engineers, designers, interns, and other project stakeholders.
