Job DescriptionThe position serves as the recognized resource for Local Agency Projects (LAP) for the Taylor Transportation Service Center (TSC). Responsibilities include working as a liaison and technical expert between the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the various local agencies within the TSC service area to administrate assigned construction projects, the scoping of future projects, reviewing project plans and specifications, scheduling and coordinating with contractors, utility companies and the public;
assisting in managing consultants, writing reports, overseeing and monitoring field operations and a variety of other related duties for local agency projects. In addition, this position participates in the performance and/or coordination of random interim local government project reviews and final local government project record reviews with qualified MDOT and/or consultant personnel for final local agency project closeout or quality assurance (QA).
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Engineer 12 position.

RequiredEducation and Experience
Education:
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering. Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, preferred.
Experience:
Three years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11.
Education and Experience
Transportation Engineer 9 - 12 Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may be substituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.
