Project Overview
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and the team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, which will lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
The candidate will act as the Cost Engineer on the upcoming project, beginning in the home office (Reston, Houston, or Cheyenne) and then relocating to a long‑term assignment in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.
In this role you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non‑routine requirements or for cost activities that require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. #LI-ML1
Major Responsibilities- Perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities as directed.
- Support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
- Assist with budget allocation and reporting for specific construction disciplines or groups of disciplines.
- Prepare cost data for proposals or contracts.
- Coordinate the development and accuracy of cost reports.
- Verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.
- Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Collect and classify cost data.
- Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience

* * 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency in the use of Eco Sys software.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, as well as a solid understanding of relevant Controller instructions that affect Project Controls.
- Competence in engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and startup processes in accordance with Bechtel's operational standards.
- Expertise in engineering and construction management through targeted education or extensive practical experience.
