Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical systems and equipment, electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electrical and electronic equipment, and other hardware systems found in industrial plants and applications. These systems and equipment are utilized in nuclear power plants, commercial and government nuclear fuel processing plants, chemical plants, refineries, and power plants. The work may be required to comply with NQA-1, 10
CFR
50, and 10
CFR
21 standards, so familiarity and experience with these QA standards is advantageous. Determine design approaches and parameters, select components and equipment based on specification analysis and reliability. Review vendor capability to support product development, and use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment for assignments. Apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering to achieve goals, working on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Extensive experience and judgment are vital to planning and accomplishing goals, and creativity and latitude are expected to determine methods and evaluation criteria. May supervise the activities of others.
Responsibilities
+ Design and develop electrical systems and equipment for industrial applications.
+ Modify and evaluate electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry.
+ Determine design approaches and parameters for projects.
+ Select components and equipment based on specification analysis and reliability.
+ Review vendor capability for product development support.
+ Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software for assignments.
+ Apply electrical engineering principles and techniques to accomplish goals.
+ Conduct in-depth evaluations of variable factors for complex issues.
+ Plan and accomplish goals relying on extensive experience and judgment.
+ Supervise the activities of other team members when necessary.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in electrical systems and design.
+
Experience with technical reporting and reviewing drawings.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD or Draft Site.
+ Ability to take design to the manufacturing floor and collaborate with other disciplines.
+
Experience with reporting, calculations, presentations, ETAP, and electrical analysis packages.
+ Knowledge of Arc Flash, nuclear standards, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, UL-508A.
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ 5+ years of relevant experience.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in proposal development and estimating timelines for work.
+ PE license is desirable.
+
Experience with transformers, power plants, and chemical plants.
+ Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace), NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery), UL-508A (Standard for Industrial Control Panels).
Work Environment
Work onsite in Huntsville, AL, in a manufacturing environment. This is a non-remote position within a functional matrix organization. The role reports to a project with a lead engineer and a project manager.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
