Role DescriptionThe Civil Engineer will work on-site in Murrells Inlet, SC in a full-time capacity, supporting the design and delivery of civil engineering projects for public and private clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing engineering designs, plans, and specifications; performing calculations; and assisting with site layout, grading, utilities, and roadway design. The role involves coordinating infrastructure design solutions, supporting permitting activities, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines and project managers.
The Civil Engineer will also participate in field visits, review construction progress, address technical questions, and help ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Strong foundation in Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design, with the ability to develop plans, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting Civil Engineers and project teams in planning, coordinating, and executing multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Planning and site development processes, including zoning, permitting, and coordination with local government agencies.
- Practical understanding of Stormwater Management principles, including drainage design, erosion control, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Practical understanding of Roadway and traffic design principles, including road design, traffic counts, and compliance with SCDOT and AASHTO requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field;
Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least SC, multiple states preferred. - Proficiency with civil design software and basic office productivity tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to perform occasional field work, interpret plans in the field, and interact professionally with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to supervise, train, manage & develop others.
- Ability to Set priorities for design; establish and manage production schedule, and review design of projects and make changes/corrections for drafting.
The Civil Team Leader has responsibility for the scheduling and production of infrastructure designs and construction plans for all civil design projects. The Civil Team Leader will assist in personnel decisions within this division, propose budgets for personnel and equipment, prepare proposals for new projects, be involved with marketing efforts, schedule and oversee all projects, and coordinate with Building and Environmental divisions.
