The selected candidate will be responsible for tasks associated with the detailed engineering design of high voltage (Transmission 69 - 500 kV) power line projects. These projects include entire new facilities as well as major additions, rehabilitation, replacement, clearance, and reconductoring of existing electric power lines. The position also requires occasional field site visits for data collection and verification.

• In either a supporting or lead role, responsible for the identification of engineering requirements
• May function as a project lead or responsible engineer as required
• Performs tasks and produces engineering calculations, documents, and designs for conceptual and detailed phases under the direction of the project lead or responsible engineer
• Produces (or reviews) documents and drawings to support client requirements and permitting or construction and constructability requirements
• Reviews vendor drawings, calculations, and specifications for design and project compliance
• Coordinates with the project lead or responsible engineer to determine the format and creation of project deliverables, documents, and drawings
• Coordinates with or directs others to produce supporting drawings and drafting requirements
• Communicates with stakeholders internally and externally to resolve and address project interfaces
• Applies industry best practices, client standards, and client direction into design documents and drawings
• Documents client interactions and changes to scope, schedule, or budget
• Conducts field visits to collect data (5–10% travel)
• Works with client and/or construction contractors to develop best design
• Proofs in‑house engineering projects – attention to detail required
• Performs administrative tasks to support project maintenance related to scope, schedule, and budget
• Complies with project requirements to support the collection and storage of electronic project files within the department

• Attend work as scheduled, for at least 8 hours at a time, 5 days a week in a remote work within the United States

• 4–7 years of experience in designing transmission lines
• BS degree in civil/structural, electrical engineering, or related discipline (required)
• Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or P.E. preferred
• Demonstrated ability to review, understand, and apply industry standards and practices with practical experience
• Experience reviewing and interpreting online drawings or similar system-level drawings
• Experience applying industry requirements for overhead transmission lines
• Experience determining and producing project deliverables for overhead transmission projects
• Familiarity with NESC, ANSI‑05.1, ASCE 48, ASCE 10, ACT‑117, ACI‑318, and OSHA
• Prior experience creating plan and profile drawings, structure framings, phasing drawings, and other instruments common to the utility industry
• Knowledge of related disciplines and the ability to identify and discuss interface points between internal or external teams (e.g., ROW, Permitting, Geotechnical, Substation Design)
• Structural, geotechnical, utility design, or prior construction experience preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Micro Station and/or Bluebeam; ability to product or review sketches and drawings
• Experience with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Pole, and MS‑Office family of software required
• Preferred software: PLS‑Tower, PLS‑Cason, MFAD, LPile, STAAD, Mathcad, and VIbrec
