Role OverviewAs a Civil Designer (Grading & Site Servicing), you will prepare permit‑ready grading, drainage, site servicing, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control drawings for residential and commercial developments. You will work remotely with project coordinators, surveyors, architects, structural engineers, municipalities, and clients to deliver coordinated, high‑quality drawing packages. When civil workload permits, you will also provide AutoCAD drafting support to the structural department.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare grading, drainage, site servicing, stormwater management (SWM), and erosion & sediment control (ESC) drawings.
- Develop permit‑ready drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate grading drawings with survey, architectural, structural, and municipal requirements.
- Review municipal comments and revise drawings until permit approval.
- Coordinate with surveyors regarding topographic and boundary information.
- Prepare quantity take‑offs, profiles, details, and supporting civil documentation.
- Provide AutoCAD drafting support for structural engineering projects when required.
- Maintain drawing standards, revision history, and document control.
- Coordinate with project coordinators to meet project schedules.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing Canadian grading and site servicing drawings.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (mandatory).
- Strong AutoCAD drafting skills (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of Ontario municipal grading standards, servicing requirements, and permit processes.
- Experience preparing SWM and ESC drawings.
Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, and survey drawings. - Structural CAD drafting experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Hours of work: 40+ hours per week or as agreed in the engagement agreement.
- Work Environment: Fully remote position using Microsoft Teams and cloud‑based collaboration tools.
