Position: Seismo-Acoustic Engineer - Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC)

The Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC) seeks a Seismo-Acoustic Engineer to join our engineering team in maintaining and improving seismic and infrasound stations worldwide. The successful candidate will perform fieldwork, remote monitoring, troubleshooting, calibration of broadband seismometers, and design and maintenance of power and communication systems to ensure high data availability and quality.

The position is physically located at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree and at least two years of postgraduate research experience in a relevant field (e.g., science, mathematics, engineering), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and calibrating broadband seismometers.
  • US citizenship required by the funding agency.
Position Details

Full-time or part-time;
Grade 80; term-funded; exempt; 12-month contract with competitive salary and UA employee benefits package, including retirement and health insurance, paid holidays, tuition waivers, and childcare options.

On-site presence required at UAF facilities. Remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at the University's discretion; remote work for employees outside Alaska may be approved only in exceptional circumstances or where required by the position's job duties.
