Intralox L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, is seeking a Controls Performance Engineer to join our Business Benefits Team located in Hanover, MD. The team commissions, supports, observes, and optimizes new solutions deployed at customer sites to ensure they meet or exceed performance, ergonomic, and reliability requirements. The engineer validates functional performance, shapes and improves equipment performance, and works closely with mechanical and controls engineers to translate opportunities into design and performance advancements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support at client sites for new and existing systems.
  • Lead field installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • Observe system operation under live conditions and analyze performance, making real‑time adjustments to parameters, code, and system logic for sustainable improvements.
  • Support mechanical and electrical subcontractors during installation at customer facilities.
  • Support and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment and systems remotely via phone or remote sessions.
  • Develop and implement controls upgrades on existing systems.
  • Produce troubleshooting instructions.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair/adjustment of mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Collaborate with other groups for continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • Work with the Test Engineering Group and perform factory acceptance tests of finished equipment.
  • Provide design and assembly support for industrial conveyor equipment, as needed.
  • Create daily detailed reports documenting activities, changes made, and their impact on overall system performance to inform next improvement steps.
  • May be assigned small projects to complete independently.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least two (2) years of technical support at client sites, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment, and configuring PLCs/HMIs.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to design and perform field work.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with commonly used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
  • Experience configuring PLCs, HMIs, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives used to control sorters, conveyors, and related equipment.
  • Problem‑solving, creative, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Proficient in creating field reports that document system performance and environmental impacts.
  • Proficient with remote working tools (Zoom, Chime, Web Ex, Teams, Team Viewer, or equivalent).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Self‑managed team player.
  • Ability to travel (20%–80%) and work weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
  • Physical requirement: ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and Beckhoff Automation.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with SIEMENS TIA Portal.
  • Experience with Beckhoff TWINCAT.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Experience with VFDs: AB Power Flex 525, Siemens G120, SEW Movimots.
  • Experience with HMIs:
    Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation FT View Machine Edition, Siemens WinCC, Schneider Electric Indusoft, Wonderware, GE Cimplicity.
  • Experience with field buses and communication protocols:
    Device Net, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, CANO

    pen, EtherCAT, Ethernet TCP/IP.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Familiarity with Solid Works PDM or PTC Windchill PLM environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP.
  • Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL 508A standards and regulations.

The salary range is $75,300 to $192,300. The position may be eligible for commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to plan terms.
