Position: Fire & Life Safety Engineer

Role Description This full‑time Fire & Life Safety Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Vienna VA, with flexibility for some work from home. The engineer will review, design, and evaluate fire protection and life safety systems for facilities supporting defense and national security missions. Day‑to‑day work includes performing code and standards compliance assessments, preparing technical reports and design documentation, and coordinating with architectural, engineering, and operations teams.

The role will involve supporting system design and specification for fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems, as well as conducting risk assessments and recommending mitigation strategies. The engineer will also provide technical guidance to stakeholders, participate in audits and inspections, and help develop and improve safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in Fire Protection Engineering and Safety Engineering, with the ability to apply relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Fire Safety and Life Safety principles, including occupant egress, fire detection, and emergency response planning.
  • Hands‑on experience with Fire Suppression Systems, including design review, system specification, and performance evaluation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE in Fire Protection) are a plus.
  • Experience working in secure or mission‑critical environments, preferably supporting defense or federal clients.
  • Proficiency in interpreting building, fire, and life safety codes (e.g., NFPA standards, IBC, IFC) and applying them to complex projects.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and technical writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required by the client is highly desirable.
