Entry Level Hydrogeologist

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Hydrogeologist for employment in our Long Beach, California office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods while working on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment. This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

• Complete field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, remediation system data collection, and related work.
• Provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.
• Conduct environmental field work: soil logging, soil and groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, oversight of field surveys, soil borings and well installation, well development and rehabilitation operations, utility clearance for intrusive operations, and aquifer testing.
• Prepare field documents and process, interpret, and analyze field data.
• Support office tasks such as data analysis and report preparation.
• Utilize basic scientific principles and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems in collaboration with senior technical staff.
• Collect and enter data, apply technical principles, interpret and record findings, conduct analyses, and compare results to local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Travel to project locations, including driving and overnight stays.

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Hydrogeology or Geology.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test as a condition of employment.

• Experience in the environmental remediation industry (private or public).
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues, and sub‑contractors.
• Flexible with working hours and locations; frequent travel within 1–2 hours of the home office and occasionally further.
• Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
• Strong research and report writing skills, including web‑based research.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Strong quality and time management.
• Self‑starter, delivers work under own initiative.
• Solid attention to detail and thorough approach.
• Proficient with basic computer programs;
  Microsoft Suite.

• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
• This position requires a hybrid work schedule that includes in‑office work in Long Beach, California. The selected candidate must be available to work in Long Beach on a scheduled basis.
• Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
• Travel of 25% is required for this position.

The expected range is $66,560.00 - $68,752.91, based on location and individual qualifications.
