Senior Business Development Engineer, US Army

Overview

Join an incredibly talented group performing challenging work with the objective of keeping our heroes connected. You will work with Engineering and Business Development teams to provide US Army acquisition stakeholders with tailored solutions and translate Army operational requirements into technical, winnable solutions. The role emphasizes forward-looking technical leadership, demonstrating interoperability and field-readiness of our tactical communications portfolio to Army evaluation teams.

Travel up to 50% for meetings, events, and demonstrations. This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze US Army Capability Set requirements and Mission Command network design goals to map operational gaps to tactical radio capabilities.
  • Conduct market research to identify full product solutions and synergies with emerging industry partners; collaborate with Applications Engineering to test and evaluate end-to-end architectures.
  • Design and build high-impact demonstrations tailored to Army operational needs, highlighting future tactical edge network possibilities.
  • Lead technical planning, network configuration, and live-on-the-air execution of field trials, modernizations, and user evaluations with BD and Applications Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate to leverage large-scale testing and competitive benchmarking data to ensure proposed architectures are sound.
  • Partner with the Business Development team to engage Army program managers, S&T leads, and warfare centers to incorporate advanced capabilities into 3–5 year requirements.
  • Remain closely aligned with the Business Development team to set strategic priorities and support technical needs.
  • Serve as the technical anchor for the RFI/RFP response team, providing strategic direction and ensuring proposal accuracy.
  • Build trusted-advisor relationships with Chief Engineers, SMEs, and technical evaluators across the Army.
  • Translate Army field feedback and requirements into actionable product roadmaps; track progress to meet operational needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Travel

  • Travel up to 50% for meetings, events, and demonstrations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related C5

    ISR field with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering, technical business development, or defense technology roles; OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience working directly with Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), IP-based tactical routing protocols, and tactical communication systems.
  • Strong knowledge of US Army tactical procurement pathways and Army Futures Command priorities.
  • Proficiency with RF instruments such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (50%) to customer sites, DoD labs, and field-testing environments.
  • Security Clearance:
    Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain within 15 months of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon successful background check and drug test.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to build trusted-advisor relationships with DoD stakeholders and translate capability gaps into engineering roadmaps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to author technical white papers and present to senior military leadership.
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP, tactical networking architectures, and Linux environments.
  • Deep knowledge of wireless systems, RF signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
