Job Description

This Mechanical Designer role focuses on HVAC systems for advanced manufacturing, industrial, and commercial facilities. The position combines HVAC design with broader mechanical engineering responsibilities, including piping, plumbing, and utility systems, to support complex industrial and manufacturing environments. You will develop designs from concept through construction documents, using Revit and related tools, while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contributing to energy‑efficient, modernized building systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC systems for industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Develop mechanical designs for systems including piping, plumbing, compressed air, chilled water, steam, and utility systems.
  • Create 3D models and construction drawings using Revit and Revit MEP.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on project design and coordination.
  • Assist with building load calculations and equipment selection.
  • Support the development of conceptual designs and project cost estimates.
  • Design ventilation and indoor air quality solutions.
  • Participate in site visits to gather field information and support retrofit projects.
  • Assist with BIM coordination and construction document development.
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated Revit experience, gained through an internship or current professional role, with the ability to create and manage 3D mechanical and HVAC models.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, supported by a Mechanical Engineering degree or closely related discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience or academic exposure to HVAC design and engineering for building and industrial systems.
  • Ability to work semi‑independently, managing tasks and priorities while collaborating effectively within a project team.
  • Proficiency with building systems design, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection components.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting tools to prepare and modify mechanical and building system drawings.
  • Capability to perform building load calculations and use building load/modeling software such as HAP and Trane Trace.
  • Skill in specifying mechanical equipment and building utility systems based on performance, code, and project requirements.
  • Ability to prepare clear engineering reports and technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to perform site visits and occasional overnight travel for retrofit and modernization projects.
  • Understanding of BIM processes and construction documentation standards for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit MEP for integrated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design workflows.
  • Background in plumbing design, including plumbing/fire protection systems and related construction documents.
  • Exposure to fire protection design and coordination within industrial and commercial building projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems as they relate to mechanical and building services integration.
  • Experience with BIM coordination, including managing redlines and updates to construction documents.
  • Knowledge of industrial design and building systems for manufacturing and advanced production facilities.
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail in preparing mechanical and HVAC drawings.
  • Interest in professional growth opportunities or leadership roles.
  • Ability to identify and communicate energy‑saving opportunities through assessments and analysis.
  • Comfort presenting technical information to project teams, clients, and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, typically allowing two to three days per week working from home, with flexibility based on project needs and team coordination. Work is primarily office‑based when on‑site, using tools such as Revit, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and building modeling software (HAP, Trane Trace) within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment. Site visits to industrial and commercial facilities are part of the role, including…
