Sr. Metallurgical Engineer and Quality Assurance
Molycop – Kansas City, USA
Responsibilities- Develop and manage lab‑scale tests to categorize ores and analyze processing options.
- Operate laboratory and full‑scale flotation reagent tests.
- Perform product development testing on customer sites.
- Manage, troubleshoot, and improve grinding media and process control systems.
- Consult with customers on the proprietary metallurgical operation of large‑scale comminution circuits, including media size and grinding mill setup.
- Act as an important technical resource for customers who require onsite visits for methodological purposes.
- Advise customers on operational changes, new projects, optimizations, and resolving non‑conformities.
- Oversee the operation of large‑scale comminution circuits and conduct on‑site customer visits.
- Utilize proprietary simulation programs to evaluate comminution circuits, including SAG, ball and regrind circuits, media sizing, and mill liner designs.
- Oversee client development by conducting comparative product testing against competitors.
- Facilitate information as the point of contact for proprietary processes, including manufacturing processes and capabilities, interdependent supply chain, product packaging options, methods, and quality processes.
- Prepare and analyze overviews on product performance, grinding media mill rejects, and historical and budget usage.
- Present sales forecasts, prepare market updates, and provide competitive analysis of our unique products.
- Develop technical reports and training manuals for customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5 years of experience in metallurgical engineering and mineral processing in the mining industry.
- 5 years of experience with large‑scale comminution circuits for mining operations.
- 5 years of experience with grinding mill setups and operations at mining sites.
- 5 years of experience in metallurgical laboratory work performing grinding testing including Work Index, Abrasion Index, and mineral preparation; and flotation testing focused on reagent screening, optimal reagent dosage, and evaluating flotation conditions.
- 5 years of experience managing vendor relationships in the mining industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grinding media, including SAG balls and ball milling.
Position based in Tucson, Arizona. Work from home available from any location within normal commuting distance from Tucson, AZ. Will be required to visit domestic and international client sites 80% of the time.
