As Distribution Engineering Manager, you will provide direction, coaching, supervision, and mentoring to a team of professional and technical staff within the Distribution Line Engineering Department.
What You’ll Do- Supervise a group of engineers, designers, drafters, and project support coordinators to successfully deliver Distribution line projects. Responsible for administering performance reviews and staff evaluations for direct reports.
- Direct and oversee work of Design and Planning Engineers, including conceptual routes, layouts, preliminary and detailed designs, and specifications for distribution lines.
- Prepare construction sketches, plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials, and permit drawings.
- Create pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and other construction drawings.
- Perform pole loading, cable pulling, and other design calculations.
- Update as-built revisions.
- Lead Distribution System Planning projects, including construction work plan and long-range plan development.
- Lead Distribution System Protection projects, including coordination studies and relay settings development.
- Monitor and maintain staffing and utilization levels to ensure operational and project milestones and goals are met.
- Maintain and develop a strong professional network of existing and potential customers, especially municipal and electric cooperative utilities in the state of Florida. Travel to client sites/field/vendor facilities as needed.
- Perform quality reviews of engineering work for both internal assets and sub-contractors on assigned projects.
- Manage development of project proposals, bid preparation, project schedules, and bill of materials for assigned projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET-accredited university. PE required. A 2‑year additional experience can be accepted in lieu of the PE.
- Experience: 12+ years of Distribution line design and related project execution experience, and 5+ years managing multidisciplinary engineering personnel, delegating workloads, directing others, and planning Distribution Line projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
