An established and growing transportation engineering consulting firm is seeking a Roadway Engineer (PE) to join its Transportation team in Raleigh, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work on high-profile transportation infrastructure projects while collaborating with industry leaders on complex roadway and design-build projects throughout the Southeast.
The ideal candidate will have experience delivering roadway design projects for state DOTs, counties, municipalities, and aviation clients while working in a collaborative, employee-focused environment with strong opportunities for career growth.
Key Responsibilities- Design roadway and transportation infrastructure projects from concept through final design.
- Develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
- Prepare alignments, profiles, cross sections, and roadway geometric layouts.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including bridge, drainage, traffic, and aviation professionals.
- Support project managers with project delivery, scheduling, and client coordination.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, local agency, and AASHTO design standards.
- Perform quality control reviews and technical analyses.
- Mentor junior engineers and EITs.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to project planning efforts.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active PE License.
- 5+ years of roadway design experience.
- Experience with GDOT, SCDOT, municipal, or county transportation projects.
- Proficiency with Open Roads Designer, Micro Station, Civil 3D, or similar roadway design software.
- Strong understanding of transportation design standards and project delivery.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
