Description
Manufacturing Engineer III –
Location:
Santa Ana, California. This position supports the production of high quality products from design through all production phases, acting as a liaison among Design, Procurement, Assembly, and Quality to promote an efficient, well‑organized manufacturing operation. Preferred experience includes aerospace/defense electronics manufacturing, box-build assemblies, wire harness and cable fabrication, with knowledge of IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, and IPC/WHMA‑620 standards.
- Attend design reviews and provide product evaluations to ensure manufacturability and economical production techniques.
- Review and oversee engineering design drawings prior to Production Release for manufacturability and compatibility with current manufacturing techniques.
- Lead technical evaluations for make/buy decisions and recommend in-house vs. outside vendor manufacturing capabilities.
- Assist in vendor surveys and evaluate tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support manufacturing operations.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition discrepant material and/or assemblies.
- Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviews to ensure design changes are producible within manufacturing capabilities.
- Monitor daily production activities and recommend material and/or labor improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate with Methods and Tooling groups to provide technical interpretations for design and fabrication of tools, fixtures, and process methods instructions.
- Provide manufacturing assembly flow charts and floor/equipment layouts to support product flow through assembly states.
- Conduct special manufacturing projects, evaluations, or surveys as directed by management.
- Actively participate in Lean initiatives (5S, TPM, VSM, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism.
- Understanding of continuous improvement tools; strong customer service focus.
- Working knowledge of productivity tools (Microsoft Office) and ability to document and solve cross-functional challenges using structured problem solving tools.
- Engineering degree:
Bachelors in Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education/experience. - Willingness to support a 24/7 global operation and travel as required.
- Experience with electronic components, circuits, and systems or mechanical components, depending on background.
- Experience in ISO compliance and leading technical projects in cross-functional initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field; MS in Engineering preferred.

Compensation Range: $ to $ USD. Salary is based on factors including skills, certifications, experience, and business needs.
