Overview
Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, focusing on electric transmission challenges.
The successful candidate will serve as an engineer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for utilities.
Responsibilities include applying standards (NESC, ASCE, ACI and other applicable codes) in engineering and design of electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects. Activities include engineering analyses, bidding documents, plans and specifications, material procurement, and construction documents, with collaboration across the Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.
WorkLocation
Ideally, reside in the Greater Chicagoland area for a hybrid schedule, or in the Greater Indianapolis or Columbus areas for remote work.
Responsibilities- Design electric transmission systems for HV and EHV overhead and underground facilities.
- Prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, material procurement, and construction packages.
- Analyze systems using NESC, ASCE, ACI and other applicable standards.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals; manage schedules and deliverables.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams including project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management.
- Lead and supervise team members (required for Senior/SME level).
- Work in client offices or travel as required.
- Technical tools: PLS-CADD, POLE, LPILE or FAD, Microsoft Office, and related software as listed in project requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission design.
- Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plan and profile, and construction packages.
- Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement; project schedules; and construction work packages.
- Ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals; effective teamwork and independent work capability; strong client communication.
- Leadership experience and ability to supervise others (required for Senior and SME levels).
- Willingness to work in client offices and travel as needed.
- Licenses and program experience: EIT, FE, or PE; GO95; PLS TOWER;
Bentley Micro Station;
Bentley Project Wise;
Mathcad;
AutoCAD.
