Wolf Creek Generating Station is Kansas' first nuclear power generating station, providing electric generation for Evergy and KEPCo. Wolf Creek has been safely providing clean, reliable energy to the citizens of Kansas and Missouri since 1985. The plant generates about 1,200 megawatts of electricity, which is enough energy to power more than 800,000 homes.

Wolf Creek has an immediate opening for a full‑time Engineer, entry level through experienced of most disciplines, to work within the Strategic Engineering Group based in Burlington, KS. This position will be assigned mechanical plant systems, components, and/or programs (pipes, valves, tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.) and will be responsible for ensuring the plant system, components, and/or programs are functioning to meet the regulatory and plant operating requirements by trending, monitoring, and analyzing performance, as well as advocating for improvements with site leadership.

We offer a 4‑day work week, Monday
- Thursday, with a hybrid remote option to work from home up to 25% of the time.

Strategic Engineer - responsible for developing/maintaining expertise on assigned systems, programs, and/or components. The Strategic Engineer uses this knowledge to ensure that system, program, and/or component performance meets or exceeds the requirements of the operating license, design bases, and corporate goals. The Strategic Engineer actively monitors, trends, and analyzes performance; identifies improvements needed based on performance issues, industry guidance, operating experience, and plant feedback;

communicates the improvements to station management; and develops cost‑effective solutions, and champions short term and long‑range plans to ensure timely resolution of issues and support of excellence in equipment reliability.

The open position is available within the Balance of Plant Group:

Balance of Plant (BOP) group - responsible for major Secondary and Lake Water systems, Feed Water, Main Steam, Main Turbine, Essential Service Water, and Circ Water Systems.

The Engineer I position requires a BS degree in Engineering.

The Engineer II position requires a BS degree in Engineering and two years relevant experience.

The Staff Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and four years relevant.

The Senior Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and eight years of relevant experience. A registered engineering in training (EIT) or board recognized industry certification is preferred.
