Description:
Tanner Engineering is seeking a full time motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team based in Mount Vernon, IN with a hybrid work arrangement that allows for some work from home. This position will primarily focus on the design and engineering of mechanical systems for industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, and related infrastructure, with opportunities to support select commercial and institutional projects.
The ideal candidate will work directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction support, and project completion. This role requires strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to delivering practical, innovative engineering solutions that meet client objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:- Design process piping and other mechanical systems for industrial facilities.
- Perform engineering calculations and prepare technical reports.
- Develop construction drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate designs with structural, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines.
- Conduct field investigations and site visits.
- Review contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and project managers.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within one year.
- Experience with industrial or commercial facility design preferred.
- Experience with 3D AutoCAD (AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD MEP, or similar) preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
