Your future position: Water/Wastewater Engineer I
Location: Bannockburn, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL
Role OverviewBaxter & Woodman, in partnership with Boller Construction, has created a Design‑Build department focused on alternative delivery methods. The Water/Wastewater Engineer I will design drinking water, wastewater, and related infrastructure projects for sites in Bannockburn, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL. Successful candidates will grow their careers through technical design, project or team management, or business development opportunities.
What your day‑to‑day will look like- Detailed design of new and rehabilitation improvements for water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and pumping stations.
- Complete conceptual and preliminary designs in Bluebeam and coordinate with AutoCAD/Revit platforms.
- Review and plan water/wastewater infrastructure improvements with a focus on sustainable design, water and energy conservation, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with Baxter & Woodman Boller Design Build and subcontractors to assemble pricing, develop proposals, and determine solutions.
- Work directly with Boller Construction and other contractors on design‑build projects.
- Make independent decisions and take responsibility for project engineering solutions.
- Communicate and coordinate efforts with peers, management, and stakeholders.
- Participate in client and agency meetings to enhance knowledge exchange and build relationships.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to lead oneself through project design.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment for both engineering design and contractors.
The pay range for this role is $74,000–$90,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
