Position: Engineering Project Assistant (Remote)

Engineering Assistant

The Engineering Assistant is involved in the engineering and administration of projects in the Special Projects Division (SPD) or in other Business Unit departments. Reports to Project Engineer or Engineer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in obtaining and reviewing information and approvals for processing of shop drawings, product data and samples.
  • Assist in communicating this information across all levels of the project team.
  • Assist in managing other aspects of communication including submission and responses for Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Assist in preparing estimates for changes in the work, including review of Change Order requests from subcontractors.
  • Study contract drawings, specifications and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of contract documents, electronic web‑based documents and project logs.
  • Distribute information required for construction to appropriate parties.
  • Assist engineering to ensure that materials and equipment are released for fabrication or manufacture in time to meet the construction schedule.
  • Assist in the preparation of final records for the project including close‑out documents, Operations/Maintenance Manuals, etc.
Field Engineer

The Field Engineer position will be assigned to the field operations team and will assist in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents and to assure that the work meets all safety standards, is within schedule requirements, and is constructed to the highest level of quality possible. The Field Engineer shall be responsible for the protection and promotion of the interests of Turner and all matters.

Reports to Project Superintendent or Superintendent.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner safety standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of contract documents and electronic web‑based documents for field operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Daily Construction Reports (DCRs).
  • Review all work as it is being placed to be sure it is accurate within accepted tolerances.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project as‑builts.

Note:

Depending on business need and location, you may be assigned to work at an active construction project site in one of our many specialties or in a department located at the main office.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is estimated to be $72,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD annualized.

Qualifications
  • Two years of college education from an accredited degree program in Engineering, Construction, or related education.
  • Building construction, engineering, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Demonstrate initiative and desire to learn.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with computer applications, data entry, and Microsoft suite of applications.
  • Basic understanding of scheduling programs, desired.
