Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Life Safety Systems Engineer for a Remote position with a Global Professional Services Firm located in Arizona, Oregon, Texas, or Pennsylvania. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role focuses on providing code-compliant asset protection and fire life safety mitigation solutions. The successful candidate will design various fire solutions including sprinklers, gaseous agents, and fire detection systems, while interfacing directly with client counterparts and state and local code officials. Using AutoCAD and Revit MEP, the engineer will create 3D models and provide construction deliverables for a variety of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide code-compliant asset protection and fire life safety mitigation solutions
- Take ownership of various projects as the engineer of record
- Design fire sprinklers, gaseous agents, fire detection, toxic gas detection, smoke modeling, and explosion prevention systems
- Interface directly with clients and state and local code officials in the designing of facilities
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit MEP to create 3D models in coordination with architects and engineers
- Provide calculations, equipment size and quantities, equipment and construction specifications, and network diagrams
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with the ability to attain PE licensure
- At least 4 years of AutoCAD design experience
- Knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA
101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code - Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
- Knowledge and application of NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code
- Knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems and manufacturers' equipment, including VESDA systems
- Design experience with Fire Alarm, VESDA systems, security CCTV, HPM and Leak Detection
- Knowledge of design and construction specifications
- Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects
Desired skills:
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Experience leading projects and managing resources
- Experience mentoring junior staff
- Design Management experience
- Design experience in semiconductor or data centers
- Working knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit)
