What Your Job Will Be LikeOur team is seeking a highly motivated Electromechanical Technologist to support system‑level testing and electrical equipment operations for advanced weapon development programs. The selected individual will play a critical role in the W80-4, W80-5, and W87-1 functional electrical testing, contributing to weapon development and qualification efforts. This position also involves supporting calibration activities for W80-4 system testers, implementing upgrades to W87-1 system testers, and assisting in the fabrication of W80-5 and W93 system testers.
This is an excellent opportunity to make significant contributions to Sandia’s national security mission by working on multiple high‑visibility nuclear deterrence programs.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Operate and maintain system‑level testers and electrical test equipment in support of weapon development and qualification.
- Collaborate closely with Tester Engineers and Testing Engineers to ensure test systems meet program requirements.
- Fabricate, modify, and assemble tester components, cables, and related hardware to support evolving test needs.
- Apply hands‑on fabrication and electrical skills to improve testing processes and equipment reliability.
- Assist in the calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of testers to maintain optimal performance and accuracy.
- Prioritize safety and attention to detail in all tasks.

Location & Travel: Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.
Salary Range$74,700 - $144,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- Associate’s degree in a relevant STEM field or equivalent (4 years of directly related experience).
- Experience with electrical test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multi‑meters, etc.).
- Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent with the ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 15 access, which includes random polygraphs.
- Proven experience in fabricating, assembling, and troubleshooting testers or electromechanical assemblies at both the system and component levels.
- Hands‑on experience fabricating testers, cables, or printed wire assemblies.
- Experience with Nuclear Deterrence electrical testing.
- Experience with sensors, instrumentation, or data acquisition equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and follow outlined technical procedures.
- IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-620 Certification.
