Civil Engineer Consultant; Hydraulic

Position Overview

The Fish & Boat Commission, Bureau of Engineering is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer Consultant (Hydraulic) to take on challenging hydraulic and structural work. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work both in the office and outdoors. You will support important projects that enhance public access and protect waterways across the Commonwealth. • Engineering Review
  :
  Prepare and evaluate advanced engineering studies, investigations, and designs for hydraulic and structural projects.
• Dam Inspection
  :
  Inspect agency‑owned dams and develop maintenance and rehabilitation plans for safe operation.
• Project Support
  :
  Contribute to planning, permitting, design, and construction oversight for water control and flood protection projects.
• Technical Analysis
  :
  Perform hydraulic and structural calculations for spillways, pumping stations, and control structures.
• Facility Improvement
  :
  Provide cost‑effective engineering solutions for dams, hatcheries, marinas, access areas, roads, and water systems.
• Access Oversight
  :
  Manage technical inspections and rehabilitation planning for public fishing and boating access areas.

• Full‑time employment.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday—Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Schedule may be negotiable. Work may be required outside of scheduled hours for emergencies.

  Opportunity to work from home part‑time (50%). Must meet mandatory high‑speed internet requirements and report to headquarters as needed.
• Salary
  :
  Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

• Four years of professional civil engineering experience, including three years in a hydraulic or structural specialty.
• Valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Professional Engineers.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Pennsylvania law provides employment preference for qualified veterans. Qualified veterans may be given preference for appointment to this position.
