Position: Geotechnical Engineer (P.E)

Our client is seeking an additional Florida-licensed Professional Engineer to join our team as CMT & Technical Operations - Professional Engineer, with opportunities for future growth and expanded leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, with roof testing and inspection experience preferred. Training can be provided in the roof testing and inspection portion of the role.

This role will be responsible for the final technical review of company wide reports, engineering letters, and related technical deliverables. This individual will evaluate field and laboratory data, develop and approve final engineering conclusions and recommendations, and sign /seal reports.

The engineer will work collaboratively alongside our experienced, long-term team of licensed professionals, certified technical personnel, professional geologist, field staff, laboratory personnel, and administrative team members.

This is a full-time, in-office position located at our Oakland Park, Florida office. Regular in-person collaboration with company management and our established technical team is required. This is not a hybrid or remote position.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the technical review of project scopes, proposals, specifications, and special inspection or testing requirements.
  • Participating in project meetings and visiting project sites when necessary to evaluate conditions or provide engineering recommendations or perform inspections.
  • Review company wide reports, engineering letters, field and laboratory data, testing results for soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials, as well as logs, plans, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Addressing plan review comments, requests for information, failed test results, unsuitable soil conditions, and construction-related concerns.
  • Responding to technical questions from clients when needed.
  • Approving final engineering recommendations related to site preparation, earthwork, soil improvement, shallow and deep foundations, floor slabs, pavement systems, and other geotechnical considerations.
  • Confirming that engineering reports and recommendations are technically accurate, complete, properly supported, and consistent with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Signing and sealing all company wide reports and other engineering documents in accordance with Florida laws, regulations, and professional standards within established project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with company staff while providing technical leadership and guidance across engineering, laboratory, inspection, and construction materials testing operations.
  • Oversee and support CMT field technicians, including coordinating technical expectations, reviewing field documentation, addressing testing concerns, and helping ensure work is completed accurately and in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Serve as the company's Radiation Safety Officer for its established Troxler gauge program, maintaining routine records and coordinating training, licensing, inspections, calibrations, maintenance, and proper field use, transport, and storage.
  • Support the company's quality-control procedures, professional engineering standards, laboratory accreditations, and regulatory compliance, including actively preparing for and participating in laboratory inspections and accreditation reviews with CMEC, FDOT, Miami-Dade and USACE.
  • Work with the company's experienced professional and certified staff to maintain laboratory quality systems, procedures, records, equipment documentation, technician qualifications, proficiency testing, corrective actions, and continuous improvements supporting inspections, accreditations, agency approvals, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Active and unrestricted Professional Engineer license in the State of Florida.
