We are recruiting for an Assistant Lighting Designer to contribute to projects across a range of sectors including Commercial, Urban Realm, Transportation, Infrastructure, Healthcare and Education, working with both public and private sector clients.
A Little More About Your Role…- Assisting in the development and presentation of lighting concepts, narratives, and design strategies across project stages.
- Producing lighting designs, sketches, calculations, graphical drawings and specifications, and assisting in the preparation of design reports, proposals, and lighting control schematics.
- Taking part in client-facing discussions with support from senior colleagues, communicating clearly and professionally.
- Assisting in the production of detailed design drawings, luminaire detailing, and the integration of lighting within architecture and landscape.
- Helping to gather client requirements and maintaining positive communication with project stakeholders.
- Supporting the technical delivery of projects from concept through to design development and assisting with site activities when required.
- Attending design and site meetings, lighting demonstrations, surveys, and generate technical reports.
- Coordinating your work with other disciplines and supporting team-wide collaboration.
- Supporting the development of project documentation for planning applications, tender submissions, construction packages, and as-built documentation.
- Developing and applying an understanding of standards, legislation and best practice relevant to lighting and the build environment.
- Staying updated with industry trends and engineering innovations, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning through CPD, industry events, training courses and knowledge-sharing activities.
- You will be part of the Lighting and Energy Solutions team, interacting with specialists in Electrical and EV, Environmental, Local Government, and Strategic Road Network disciplines.
- You will join a global network of lighting experts and have opportunities to collaborate internationally.

- Experience with lighting, internships, placements or academic exposure within a lighting design, architectural, engineering or related consultancy environment.
- A bachelor's degree, equivalent qualification or equivalent experience in Architecture, Lighting Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- An understanding of lighting design principles and an interest in gaining experience across different project types and delivery methods.
- An interest in contributing to creative lighting concepts that enhance wellbeing and communicate ideas through clear visual and written storytelling.
- Experience supporting team members and enthusiasm to learn from more senior designers.
- A collaborative approach, with an eye for detail and willingness to support multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience using lighting modelling and calculation software (DIALux Evo).
- Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, with a willingness to further develop these skills.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
