The Project Engineer executes engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to Alum-a-Lift quality standards. In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Team Leads, Project Engineers help drive project success, and deliver high-quality, innovative, timely solutions.
Key responsibilities- Execute detailed design of custom ergonomic lifting equipment, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.
- Create detailed CAD models and drawings, incorporating mechanical, electrical, and ergonomic considerations.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Participate in small capital projects from design through completion.
- Act as a secondary point of contact for customers, providing updates and addressing issues as directed by a Lead Engineer.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure on-time delivery and successful project execution.
- Provide support during machining, fabrication, and assembly, troubleshooting design or production issues as needed.
- Assist with final inspections, helping ensure compliance with internal and external requirements and documenting results.
In this role you are required to act according to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission and routines.
Key interfaces- This position reports to the Alum-a-Lift Engineering Manager and is a member of Alum-a-Lift’s engineering group.
- Lead Engineers provide additional support and guidance for Project Engineers, including training and design collaboration.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience using Solid Works (or similar) for 3D modelling and drawings
- Experience using AutoCAD, Draft Sight, or similar 2D CAD software
- Experience executing engineering projects
- Technical expertise in relevant engineering disciplines
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- ≥1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- 1-3 years of experience using Solid Works in a professional environment
- 1-3 years of experience using AutoCAD/Draft Sight in a professional environment
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Walking or standing for long periods of time 4-6 hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- 5% – Occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, etc.
