Autocad Designer

Sheergard Composite Solutions is seeking an Autodesk CAD Designer to support the creation, maintenance and revision of detailed engineering drawings, 3D models and manufacturing documentation for air supported radomes, aluminum frame assemblies, control systems and related mechanical components. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality, this position is responsible for converting engineering concepts into error-free design packages while ensuring compliance with company drafting standards and customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical.
• Develop manufacturing drawings for mechanical assemblies, fabric radome structures, steel and aluminum weldments and miscellaneous machined components.
• Produce fabrication drawings for radome structures, aluminum frames, support hardware and accessory systems.
• Generate assembly drawings, exploded views, bill of materials (BOMs) and installation documentation.
• Revise engineering drawings in alignment with company standards.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing to resolve drawing discrepancies and improve fabrication efficiency.
• Verify drawing accuracy, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Assist with prototype development and design improvements.
• Support customer deliverables, including drawing packages, technical documentation, and design reviews.
• Create cut layouts, fabrication files, and manufacturing support documentation as required.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of mechanical drafting or CAD design experience
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards (ASME Y14.5)
• Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing CNC machined components and structural assemblies.
• Understanding of government, aerospace and deference documentation requirements.
• Experience with CNC machining and fabrication welding.
• Experience with fabric structures, tensile structures, or air-supported systems.
• Experience with designing control systems.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office based Monday – Thursday, with the opportunity to work from home on Fridays. This position will require frequent in-person collaboration with the manufacturing floor to support design and fabrication.
