Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Environmental Qualification Engineer/Principal Environmental Qualification Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL and will be based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. This position has NO Hybrid or Remote work available.
** This position may be filled either at the Environmental Qualification Engineer level OR at the Principal Environmental Qualification Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.**
The candidate will be responsible for the Environmental Qualification Engineering Lead and Specialty Engineering Manager and work with other IPTs to successfully implement requirements, design and verification necessary to achieve successful system equipment qualification.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Interpret design guidelines, review test procedures, test reports, technical analyses, participate in cross discipline design reviews, develop models and perform analyses on components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and non-governmental standards, for example MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 and travel to supplier sites to guide/witness tests.
Interpret, allocate, tailor, and flow down requirements to all design levels.
Support design reviews for internal and external customers regarding EQ issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineer: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Principal Engineer: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Knowledge in thermal and/or vibration analysis and related software such as ANSYS, Flotherm, FEMAP, etc.
