What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a highly independent, self-motivated R&D Electrical Engineer who excels in a dynamic, high-stakes environment to join Hardened Deeply Buried Target Stand In (HDBT SI) Program of Record team. In this pivotal leadership role, you will advance cutting-edge technologies that directly support the nation’s nuclear deterrence capabilities. You will manage a large and complex electrical engineering scope, leading efforts to integrate and ensure the functionality of critical weapon system components.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Lead Complex Electrical Engineering Efforts:
Drive the design, development, and integration of advanced electrical systems, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks while managing multiple sub-team challenges.
Collaborate Across the Enterprise:
Partner closely with diverse teams spanning Sandia, NNSA, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Kansas City National Security Campus, Pantex, and the U.S. Air Force to address complex technical and programmatic challenges.
Drive Strategic Technical Communication:
Clearly articulate technical issues, options, and recommendations through compelling presentations and briefings, enabling informed decision-making at all levels.
Ensure System Engineering Excellence:
Rigorously analyze system performance to ensure all designs meet or exceed stringent requirements, maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Define and Refine Requirements:
Support the development and validation of functional and interface component requirements to ensure seamless system integration.

Salary Range:
$117,500 - $235,700
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start.
Qualifications We Desire:
The ideal R&D Electrical Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
