What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Electrical Engineer within the Ferro-Electric Neutron Generator (FENG) and Electronic Neutron Generator (ELNG) Value Stream to step into a process engineer role to enable and sustain the entire manufacturing life cycle. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to enhance their technical expertise in a dynamic manufacturing environment with challenging product design requirements, stringent quality standards and innovative manufacturing processes.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Participate in the product realization process in evaluating components that support nuclear weapon systems
Lead the identification, development and qualification of production processes in meeting nuclear weapon system requirements
Lead efforts to improve fundamental understanding of NG requirements, defining and conducting experimental work to close knowledge gaps and improve design definition
Anticipate and lead risks (i.e., process and technology development, etc.) and lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Lead product and manufacturing infrastructure design definitions through the product life cycle
Employ quality management systems and techniques.
Manage multiple organizational interfaces; internally and externally.
Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$102,400 - $199,700
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
The ideal R&D S&E Electrical Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess
the following:
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research
project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
Experience with Electrical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complex.
Experience defining testing/inspection methods and interpreting results in a manufacturing environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
Working knowledge of Nuclear Deterrence programs and processes
Strong Analytical Skills
Experience in application of the scientific method; gathering, analyzing and presenting technical data for
decision making/problem solving purposes
