Our client, a successful 50-year old business, that continues to grow, is seeking to add an experienced and highly motivated Senior Sales Engineer with a strong technical background and proven success in the field of hydronics, chillers, and cooling tower systems to support their current and future clients in the Huntsville & North Alabama region.
This is a mostly remote position, preferably based in Huntsville, AL offering flexibility to work from home when not onsite right candidate will possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama and 5 or more years of mechanical design and support experience. You will be responsible for supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise, guidance, pre-bid & post-award, project and ongoing support to clients in both the commercial and government sectors—focusing on hydronic systems, chillers, and cooling tower installations and support.
- Sales Support:
Work closely with the sales team to drive business growth by providing technical insights, specifications, and solutions for hydronics, chillers, and cooling tower systems. - Client Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, engineers, and project stakeholders throughout the Huntsville and North Alabama regions. - Technical Presentations:
Deliver engaging and informative technical presentations to clients, addressing their specific needs and challenges. - System Design & Specifications:
Assist clients and sales teams in designing customized hydronic, chiller, and cooling tower systems that meet performance and budgetary requirements. - Proposal & Quotation Support:
Collaborate with the sales team to develop competitive proposals and quotations, ensuring accurate and competitive technical specifications. - Project Coordination:
Liaise with client engineers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery of technical solutions. - Troubleshooting & Technical Advice:
Provide expert troubleshooting advice and technical support for ongoing or completed projects. - Training & Development:
Offer training sessions and workshops to client teams, internal staff, and other stakeholders on product applications and system maintenance. - Market Intelligence:
Stay current with industry trends, product developments, and competitor activities to ensure the company remains a leader in hydronic, chiller, and cooling tower systems.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MSME) from an ABET-accredited program.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama, preferred; or ability to obtain one via comity (reciprocity).
- 5 or more years of experience working with hydronic systems, chillers, and cooling towers, with a strong understanding of cooling systems—is preferred.
Note:
Experience with design and support of Thermal Systems, Refrigeration, Piping, Fluid Power, Combustion, Airside Distribution and Building Energy Systems may be substituted. - Extensive experience in designing, specifying, and supporting the installation of hydronic, chiller, and cooling tower systems—is preferred.
- Experience with large commercial or industrial Chilled Water Systems, Building Energy Systems, etc. projects.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainability practices.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints, CAD software and other technical software.
- Personality, attitude, and demonstrated ability to support sales efforts, build client relationships, and drive business growth is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel to client locations within the Huntsville and North Alabama region as needed (50-70% of the time). Trips to Birmingham and possibly Montgomery from time to time may arise.
