CAD Designer
This CAD Distribution Designer role focuses on supporting power distribution projects across southern TX. You will contribute to overhead-to-underground conversion initiatives and broader distribution design efforts, using industry-standard design tools and asset management systems to deliver accurate, reliable, and efficient engineering solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed electrical distribution designs for power delivery projects in multiple regions, including Houston, the Valley, and Louisiana.
- Perform overhead-to-underground (OH to UG) conversion designs, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant distribution systems.
- Use Maximo and related design platforms to create, update, and manage distribution assets and project documentation.
- Apply distribution design principles and standards to support projects for major utilities and power delivery stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project teams during remote work and attend office-based project meetings as needed to review designs and project status.
- Ensure that all design work meets applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
- Participate in the use of Distribution Design Studio and other design tools to produce accurate drawings and models.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of distribution engineering tasks, including design revisions and updates.
- Maintain organized records of design changes, project data, and asset information within designated systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and tools by sharing feedback and best practices with the team.
Essential
Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of distribution design experience utilizing industry-standard design tools such as the person or GDT.
- At least 2 years of general design experience in electrical or power distribution engineering is ideal but not required.
- Hands-on experience with overhead-to-underground (OH to UG) conversion projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying distribution design drawings.
- Strong understanding of power distribution and distribution engineering principles.
- Experience working with Maximo or similar asset management systems in a distribution environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards and guidelines in distribution design work.
- Solid attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing engineering designs.

- Background in power delivery projects and related engineering practices.
- Familiarity with a variety of distribution design tools and workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting while collaborating with geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong communication skills for participating in project meetings and coordinating with project stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects, design tasks, and documentation simultaneously.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily remote, offering flexibility to work from your home office while collaborating with project teams across multiple regions. You will travel to the office periodically for project meetings and design reviews. The work centers on power distribution and engineering projects, using tools such as AutoCAD, Maximo, Distribution Design Studio, and related design platforms. The position includes paid time off and holidays, and you will work in a professional, project-driven environment that values accuracy, collaboration, and effective communication.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
