Job Title
Responsible for comparing energy models to construction plans for medium and large commercial buildings, collaborating on research and development initiatives, and supporting market transformation efforts for various technologies and building types.
Specific duties include:
• Review construction documents to confirm that plans surpass energy codes.
• Conduct third-party plan review of new commercial construction applications.
• Review energy modeling submittals supporting performance path projects.
• Perform building energy modeling simulations to calculate building energy use and potential savings for buildings.
• Provide technical support and report assessment findings for code officials and design teams.
• Communicate technical details to a variety of stakeholders.
• Support the design of tools to improve energy code compliance.
Will periodically lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including tool bags that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Education RequiredRequires a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, Energy Engineering or a closely related field and 2 years of experience.
Experience must include:
• Experience in the commercial new construction industry or comparable experience in building permitting or related industry.
• Experience interpreting all sections of building plans and specifications relevant to energy performance, including HVAC system control sequences and lighting controls.
• Experience applying building energy codes to individual projects.
• Experience reviewing building energy simulations, including software such as Energy Plus, eQuest, Trane Trace, and Carrier HAP.
• Experience conducting energy modeling to evaluate the energy impact of a variety of building equipment and control options.
Hybrid remote work is permitted. Travel regionally within U.S. up to 20% of time to visit client sites.
